About International Society Against Reckless Driving

A nation-wide grassroots non-profit charitable organization dedicated to improving overall vehicle safety on our roads. This road safety initiative was established in the loving memory of Mr. Joseph Iorahen Ahom (KSM) and Mrs. Felicia Mbayangen Ahom a couple lost to Road Traffic Crash on the 10th of January, 1987.

MISSION STATEMENT:

  • To obtain a maximum reduction in Road Traffic deaths, serious injuries, by using world best practices.
  • To improve road user behavior through public education, grass-root activism, training and re-training
  • To undertake research relating to road safety issues

To prevent the needless suffering and loss caused by Road Traffic Crashes locally and globally.

Is fuelled by the power of love and loss. If through promoting road safety ideals by raising awareness campaigns, we can help to prevent just one family from experiencing such tragedy, then our efforts would have been fruitful.

  • To pursue a 40% reduction in the total number of RTC by year 2020
  • To educate the general motoring public on road safety ideals and improve road user behavior.
  • To assist in inculcating road safety objectives into health and elementary education matters.
  • To encourage the three tiers of government to participate actively in road safety issues.
  • To define, create and promote road-related research initiatives and conduct ground breaking original researches on motoring issues.
  • To awaken the consciousness of Nigerian drivers to traffic laws and regulations while pursing compliance.
  • To proffer pertinent solutions to the problems challenging a sustainable road safety culture and chart a new course of action.
  • To educate truck/trailer/tanker drivers on the dangers inherent in their excesses while on the highway.
  • To encourage the premise that road safety education at elementary level is an essential component in the formula for RTC reduction in the long term.
  • To identify “black spots” on our road network and produce remedies.
  • To provide and protect critical road infrastructure e.g road signs
  • To pursue collaborations, partnership and synergies with relevant government agencies particularly FRSC, Non-Government Organizations (NGO) of both national and international origins, stakeholders and clients in the quest to promote safe driving culture.
  • To encourage transportation and public safety agencies and general motoring public to integrate their on-scene incident response, clearance and recovery operations.
  • To improve equity on our roads trauma and medical services
  • To approve road safety polices and programs through research of  safety outcomes on the highway.
  • To encourage the Federal and State government to fund major road

safety programs.
